As you see along the road side there are milestones with different colors. These colors specific to type of road. As on 31 March, 2017 India has 59,36,184 Km of roadways network. There are total seven categories of road network. These are explained in below table

Along with this road network, Government has announced a new project to connect for metros forming a golden quadrilateral called ” BHARATMALA ” This ambitious project offering great road connectivity between four metro cities.
