- Extending Mobile Number Length: One suggestion involves extending the length of mobile phone numbers from 10 digits to 11 digits.
- Reallocating Surrendered Numbers: Numbers from telecom operators who have ceased operations could be recycled and reassigned.
- Prefixing Fixed Line Calls: Adding a prefix ‘0’ to all mobile numbers called from landlines is another option being considered.
These proposals are currently under discussion. TRAI invited comments from stakeholders by July 4, 2024, and counter-comments by July 18, 2024. The final plan will be determined after considering all the feedback received.
