Since, creation of National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 Ration Cards and its types has been changed. According to new regime Three types of ration cards are available in India. These are Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Priority Households (PHH) & Non-Priority Households (NPHH). Public Distribution System (PDS) is governed by NFSA act. In new regime oldest woman in family is Head of Family (HOF).

Till now,

There are 1,90,24,874 AAY Ration Cads already issued. (7.74%)

There are 17,60,74,270 PHH Ration Cards already issued. (71.64%)

There are 5,07,30,026 NPHH Ration Cards already issued. (20.64%)

Beneficiary identification is matter under respective state governments. In new system tight grievance redress al mechanism is introduced. Whole system is made to be transparent.

In new regime government to aiming door step delivery mode. Ration cards made portable across all states in India.
